Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last x-something years, there has been a show on CW called Arrow. It follows the adventures of DC Comics character, The Green Arrow a.k.a. Oliver Queen and his pursuit to keep Star City safe from those who would see it brought to ruin. When I first heard about this show I was excited. I was so intrigued as to how they were going to use some of his gimmick arrows, especially the boxing glove arrow.
Then I watched the show.
Okay. Imagine if Batman said “fuck it” and went around being all broody and shooting people with arrows cause, you know, guns are for pussies. How far did I fall? This is …wrong. And it dragged its ass across the carpet of my brain for the last seven-plus seasons. So, why do I still watch it? Well, superhero shows, good or bad, are still superhero shows. There are really good ones, like Flash, and there are ones like the original Shazam show; So bad , it’s good. Arrow is an emo trainwreck that keeps me coming back every week if for no other reason than to watch it, yell at the screen, and kill an hour until something else comes on. Now I learn it’s going away.
I don’t know how to feel about that. I may shit on the show but I still watch it. There will be a hole left in its passing. You get used to things. You become comfortable. Plus, one less super-show makes broadcast television so much less interesting. Such is life. Arrow, you have failed this network…
